Amerigo Vespucci

Amerigo Vespucci was born in Florence but spent his adult life in Spain and Portugal. His early business was provisioning ships. Later in his life he traveled on voyages of exploration to the Americas. The Americas are named after him because he is believed to be the first to realize that they were not part of Asia.
