Leon Battista Alberti
1404-1472
architect

Alberti was a mathematician and architect. His statue joins those of other, perhaps better know people, in the Portico because of his influential writing on the arts and his work as an architect. He is the architect who designed the upper part of the facade of Santa Maria Novella.
