This is a courtyard view of the rooms and balcony forming the exterior street wall. A picture showing how it may have looked in Galileo's time is in the Museo di Storia della Scienza collection.

In the museum's etching, the first floor appears to be open and the casing for the well under the window is in place. The etching also shows a telescope on the second floor balcony.
