The tomb of Dante Allighieri is located on the opposite side of the church from Galileo's tomb. Dante's statue in the Portico degli Uffizi is described in Detail 3 of Site 5. Although Dante lived from 1265 to 1321, the tomb dates from 1829. Dante was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.
