The Palazzo Pitti was originally designed by Brunelleschi in the 1400's. The original palace was much smaller; additions were made in the 1600's. The the Luxembourg Palace in Paris, designed for the French queen Maria de' Medici, is modeled on the Palazzo Pitti.
